The Point of Regret
Yorkshire, 1978. A family consisting of a mother, father, and their three-year-old son are viciously murdered in their sleep, stabbed to death. There is no apparent reason for the crime, as they were considered an exemplary family. The nation is shocked and outraged by the senseless act, with many in Britain calling for the reinstatement of the death penalty to ensure justice is served. Astonishingly, the perpetrator, caught in the act of attempting to remove the father’s body from the house, successfully conceals the three-year-old’s body in a location that eludes investigators, police, and even search dogs. For months, the country is consumed by discussions about the “Kid Killer.” However, the most shocking revelation is not the brutal murder of a child and his parents, but the fact that the murderer was their own family member. The “Kid Killer” was their twelve-year-old son, William.
