The Pier
After two decades without any contact, Larry McCarthy feigns being on his deathbed to lure his son, Jack, back to their homeland of Ireland from the United States. Jack arrives, only to be enraged upon discovering that his father is perfectly healthy and even more frustrated when he realizes he cannot leave. This situation forces the estranged father and son to confront their troubled past. Central to their discord is Larry’s refusal to accept the death of his wife, Jack’s mother. The narrative delves into their challenging and often comically awkward attempts at communication. As they reluctantly find some common ground, reality hits when Larry reveals another truth to Jack, paving the way for their ultimate reconciliation.
