The Chaperone
“The Chaperone” reveals a previously untold true story about a solitary school teacher who bravely defended against a motorcycle gang while supervising a middle school dance in a church basement during the 1970s in Montreal, Canada. Narrated from the unscripted first-person perspectives of the teacher and the DJ present that night, the film vividly reconstructs the event using hand-drawn animation, miniature sets, puppetry, live-action Kung Fu, and explosive effects, all presented in stereoscopic 3D. With more than 10,000 hand-drawn illustrations, many colored with crayons, an original blaxploitation soundtrack, and a cast exceeding 200 people, “The Chaperone” offers a unique take on documentary short films.
