The Breaks

In the summer of 1990 in New York City, three friends bonded by their passion for hip-hop strive to leave a significant impact on the music scene. Nikki, a talented recent graduate, decides to forgo a law school scholarship to chase her ambition of becoming a record executive. She teams up with her boyfriend David, the son of a famous music producer, who is facing challenges at the city’s leading R&B radio station. Meanwhile, Dee Vee, an up-and-coming producer, is on a quest to discover the next breakout rap artist.
