Song of Parkland

On February 14, 2018, Melody Herzfeld, the drama teacher at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, was conducting rehearsals for the school’s yearly children’s musical when the fire alarm went off. Shortly after, a Code Red alert was issued. Herzfeld quickly guided her 65 students into a storage closet for safety as a shooter tragically took the lives of 17 teachers and students in the vicinity.
