Shrek the Musical

Shrek The Musical features music by Jeanine Tesori and a script and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. It draws inspiration from the 2001 animated film by DreamWorks and William Steig’s 1990 book, Shrek! The production received eight Tony Award nominations, including one for Best Musical. On July 19, 2013, after the national tour and West End shows concluded, Amazon.com announced that a recorded version of the performance would be available for streaming starting September 17, 2013. On the same day, it was also released on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download. This version is a compilation of several live performances, along with a recording done without an audience. The original lead cast is featured, along with various alumni from the Broadway run. Notably, it retains the song “Donkey Pot Pie” instead of its replacement, “Forever.”
