The series chronicles the challenges and victories of the Getty family, one of the richest yet most troubled families in America. Set across several seasons and covering the twentieth century, the story kicks off in 1973 with the abduction of John Paul Getty III, a descendant of the Getty oil empire, by the Italian mafia in Rome.
