Continuing from the conclusion of the original film, the story is set in New York City in 1990, during the peak of rap’s “Golden Age” of innovation. Despite this, corporate America remains reluctant to fully accept the genre. Nikki secures an ideal position as the assistant to the legendary yet unpredictable Barry Fouray. Meanwhile, her close friend and producer DeeVee collaborates with rapper Ahm, who is being investigated by the police for a murder case. How far are these ambitious young individuals willing to go to achieve success in the hip-hop industry?
