Secret of the Midwife

Marthe is a young girl endowed with a unique ability to heal ailments. However, she lives in an era dominated by superstition and religious fervor. When she fails to cure the wife of the burgrave in her village, Marthe is forced to escape. Her journey intersects with that of Ritter Christian, who is traveling east with a band of Frankish settlers to the region of Mark Meissen. During the Middle Ages, this journey is incredibly long and challenging. Christian finds himself drawn to Marthe, but their differing backgrounds make any romantic involvement unattainable, and the settlers are wary of the mysterious girl.
