Rockfield: The Studio on the Farm
Half a century ago, nestled in the Welsh countryside, two brothers were tending to cows and gearing up to inherit the family farm, all while harboring dreams of creating music. With bold ambition, they decided to transform their farmhouse into a recording studio. The barns were cleared of animals, and musicians took up residence in their grandmother’s extra bedroom. Unintentionally, they established the world’s first independent residential recording studio: Rockfield. Over the years, legendary artists like Black Sabbath, Queen, Robert Plant, Iggy Pop, Simple Minds, The Stone Roses, Oasis, and Coldplay crafted their music and chaos at Rockfield. This is the tale of their rock and roll aspirations intertwined with a family business’s struggle to endure amidst the ever-evolving music industry.
