Pink Floyd: The Story of Wish You Were Here
“Wish You Were Here,” which debuted in September 1975, followed the massive success of “The Dark Side Of The Moon” and is often regarded by fans and band members Richard Wright and David Gilmour as their favorite Pink Floyd album. Upon its release, it immediately soared to the top of the charts in both the UK and the US, as well as in numerous other countries worldwide. This program delves into the creation of this iconic album through fresh interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour, and Nick Mason, along with archival conversations with the late Richard Wright. It also includes insights from sleeve designer Storm Thorgerson, guest vocalist Roy Harper, the “burning man” from the cover, Ronnie Rondell, and others who contributed to the album’s production. Additionally, original recording engineer Brian Humphries revisits the master tapes at Abbey Road Studios to demonstrate the construction of the songs.
