However, the explosion of a meteor over Chelyabinsk, Russia, in 2013 served as a stark reminder of the genuine threat they pose. On average, NASA identifies a new potentially dangerous asteroid every day, and there are still countless others yet to be discovered. Many of these celestial bodies have the capacity to obliterate entire cities, and some are large enough to end human civilization. Conversely, they might also contain clues about the origins of our solar system and could be crucial to humanity’s survival. In films, when an asteroid threatens Earth, a group of heroes invariably steps in to avert disaster. But in reality, who has the capability to manage these menacing space objects? Who can protect us from an Asteroid Apocalypse and perhaps even lead us into the vast expanse of space?
