After failing to participate in his cult’s eagerly anticipated ritual suicide, an irritating failure joins forces with his phony former messiah to resurrect their apocalyptic community. As they journey across the heartland of America, the perpetually squabbling pair recruits a military enthusiast, a mentally unstable mother, and an enigmatic foreign hitchhiker into their fold. However, will this group of misfits achieve their ultimate spiritual goal, or will they come to realize that life might actually be worth living?
