In the disintegrating landscape of contemporary America, a defiant adolescent, a committed gang member, and an optimistic police officer each gamble everything to discover their rightful place. Rookie cop David, driven by idealism, manages to protect his family until incidents involving excessive force compel him to make a pivotal choice. Meanwhile, Lito, a dedicated gang member, ventures into perilous waters as he challenges the authority of gang leader Tia in his quest for riches and influence. Concurrently, rebellious teen Rio dabbles in gang activities until he is confronted with his own remorse following a tragic loss.
