Charlie returns from boarding school to care for her ailing mother, Laura, who runs a small organic egg farm in rural New Jersey. Balancing her mother’s care, managing the farm alone, and keeping up with her studies proves challenging. Their already tense daily life, strained by years of unspoken grievances, is further disrupted when Laura’s mother, Solange, arrives unexpectedly. Solange, an eccentric French feminist who left the U.S. long ago, has had little contact with her daughter. Laura’s sudden illness prompts her to attempt a reconnection. Can these three women, so different from one another, find a way to coexist? As they face an unexpected bird flu outbreak threatening the farm, they must overcome their conflicts. Only through love and laughter can they mend old wounds and embrace each other’s differences.
