Waverly believed she had her future all planned out, intending to begin her medical residency in Toronto following a summer trip to see her parents in Taipei. However, when her plans unexpectedly shift, she takes a spontaneous detour to a quaint Canadian town. There, she encounters Blake, a local lifeguard, who rescues her from almost drowning at a beach gathering. Blake then offers to teach Waverly how to swim, and as their lessons progress, they unexpectedly start to develop feelings for each other.
