Dirty Laundry
After a decade away, Sheldon makes his way back from New York City to his hometown of Paris, Georgia. His mother, Evelyn, a laundress known for her stubbornness, cantankerous nature, strong opinions, and harsh demeanor, has sent a ten-year-old boy claiming to be Sheldon’s son to meet him. Sheldon returns to sort out the situation. Old disputes reignite between him and his mother, as well as with his brother. Sheldon is reluctant to embrace the roles of fatherhood and family. Complicating matters further, another individual from New York arrives at Evelyn’s doorstep, introducing a fresh set of challenges. Will this family ever resolve their ongoing conflicts? And what about Sheldon: where does his sense of self-worth lie? Can he, as James Baldwin suggests, follow his true calling and live authentically?
