Company
Great Performances showcases the New York Philharmonic’s concert rendition of Stephen Sondheim’s acclaimed musical “Company,” featuring a star-studded ensemble. Originally debuting in 1970, this innovative musical saw Broadway revivals in 1995 and 2006. “Company” follows the story of Bobby, a lifelong bachelor, as he marks his 35th birthday with his ten closest friends, who are five married couples. This gala concert version, directed by Sondheim expert Lonny Price, stars Neil Patrick Harris as Bobby and Patti LuPone as Joanne. Filmed at Avery Fisher Hall within New York’s Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the musical was first broadcast on THIRTEEN’s Great Performances as a segment of the PBS Arts Fall Festival.
