High Tech, Low Life
“HIGH TECH, LOW LIFE” tracks the adventures of two pioneering citizen journalists in China as they traverse the nation, documenting overlooked news and social issues. Equipped with laptops, cell phones, and digital cameras, they hone their abilities to operate as independent news outlets while learning to maneuver through China’s shifting censorship laws and evade political repercussions. The film spotlights 57-year-old “Tiger Temple,” who becomes known as China’s first citizen reporter after spontaneously capturing a murder in progress, and 27-year-old “Zola,” who sees a chance to boost his reputation and career by covering controversial stories across the country.
