The authorities turn to Dan Marlowe, a former police officer with psychic abilities, who is now in a mental institution due to the trauma from the original investigation. His wife urges him to refuse involvement, while her brother, Dan’s former partner, pressures him to assist. Dan’s former lover, an FBI agent, is also working on the case, and in the background is Myron, Dan’s chess partner from the asylum. The situation escalates when Dan and his family become targets.
